knob lock

This rod has several small machines attached to it. It has a spring-installed system. These springs are connected to a barrel. And when we rotate our door-knob,  this moves the rod. Sometimes, when we rotate our door knob, it does not open the door. Instead of working, the door knob keeps on rotating in its place. There are two reasons for this fault:

  1.  The screws responsible for connecting the knob to the rod are wearing away. In this case, you need to replace your doorknob.
  2. If the screw set can move the rod but is not strong enough to open the door, you need to lubricate the lock. And you are all good now.

Change your screw-set:

  1. You need to look for the screw set. Most of the doorknobs have their screw set under the side of the knob.
  2. Now you need to fasten all the screws of your doorknob. But if your doorknob is too old and all the machinery has worn out, then you might want to repair it.
  3. Disengage the doorknob. Use a Philips hand Screwdriver to loosen all the screws. After that, open the screw set.
  4. Use your brand new screw set to replace the old one. Be very cautious when you are buying your screw set. Make sure it is the same brand. In addition to this, also take care of the measurements to stay in the correct range.
  5. Place the new screw set just like the old screw set was installed—spray lubricant on it. Although the screw set is new, you may want to lubricate it. This step is optional.
  6. Now muster the doorknobs. Make sure that you have tightened all the screws properly.
  7. Open and lock the door to ensure that the doorknob is working well.
